The Georgia Thunderbolts are a new band who proudly try to carry the torch onwards from giant southern bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers Band. The Band were formed in 2015 and consist of TJ Lyle (lead vocalist), Riley Couzzourt (guitar), Logan Tolbert (guitar), Zach Everett (bass og keyboards) og Briston Perry (drums). So far, they have recorded an EP named after the band and an album titled Can We Get A Witness, which was released in 2021. Let’s hope that the band will soon hit the recording studios again.
The band are part of a new generation of groups who play melodic classic rock with their roots firmly planted in soul and blues. Their music is timeless, and they give us hope that classic rock will survive also in the 21st century.
TGB play guitar-oriented blues rock with strong melodies that I have a deep affection for. Can the band continue down that path they will have a bright future ahead of them. To prove that the Georgia Thunderbolts mean business they were asked to characterize the band in three words. They said Rock and Roll. Well, isn’t that what it is all about?
