The Senior-World host himself!
Welcome to my homepage Senior World. Your host is Torben Lindy Christensen and since March 2020 I have been a full time otium abuser. I just didn’t think that the title retired was snappy enough. I was born on the 20 of January 1954 the very same year that Elvis Presley made his first recordings. I am not sure if it’s a coincidence, but it is also on the 20 of January that the newly elected the American president is inaugurated.
I am a Danish citizen and I live in the northern part of the country on the peninsular Jutland which I didn’t dare leave in the seventies when I was about to go to college. Too much alcohol and tobacco available😉
I have been to the USA more than fifteen times, and I have visited more than half the states. The same goes for the UK which I have visited countless times. I have been to Ireland and Australia, but alas I have never visited New Zealand. Sincerely hope to.
After having worked as a truck driver, factory worker, sales clerk and served my time in the military I graduated as a grade schoolteacher in 1982 and some years later I got my Master in English and International Relations. I was a teacher for 6 years at an adult educational center and after that job I was employed for 32 years at a business college where I was director of continuing education and international relations for 20 years.
I am a widower as I tragically lost my wonderful wife in 2011 after almost 30 years of happy marriage. We were blessed with 3 beautiful children. They have so far blessed me with 7 lovely grandchildren. Today I am happily married to a gorgeous woman who has a son. So now I am the proud father of 4. How lucky can one be?
I have been overwhelmingly interested in music since I had my musical revelation in 1965 when I heard Mr Tambourine Man by the Byrds. Music has been a deep passion of mine ever since. I read many books and I have always done so since childhood. I have traveled a lot and I still do. I have a healthy interest in new gadgets, and I try to keep up with the latest technological devices that can ease but also pester your life. I go to the gym a couple of times every week for about 2 hours each time. Then I am ready for a nap when I get home😉
The purpose of my home page Senior World is to give new inspiration to you my fellow baby boomers in music, books, and from time-to-time travel, technology and other areas that I find interesting including a good laugh. I like to listen to classic rock, blues, Americana, country, pop, and r&b (soul). Music solely sung in English.
I’ll write reviews of books that I have found interesting. Not necessarily always new books. I’ll from time to time write about exciting travels to foreign places that I have visited, and I’ll say a word or two about technological devices that I find relevant, and also a film or a series that I think deserve attention. Finally, I’ll occasionally throw in a fun feature.
