‘La Belle Époque’ is a brilliant and extremely funny French feel good movie. The story is in short about a middle-aged man called Victor who seems to have lost his way and is world weary. His marriage is in shambles and headed south. His wife named Marian is a psychologist and she is having a hot affair with a client who happens to be a good friend of Victor’s. Marian could not care less about Victor anymore. Everything is wrong about him, and he irritates her constantly. Consequently, Victor moves out of their apartment and into a smaller apartment which he has let from his friend who has the affair with his wife.
However, Victor’s life takes an unexpected turn when he meets the so-called film producer amongst other things Antoine who offers Victor to go back to a period in his life which he would like to reexperience again. Victor decides to relive one of the most memorable weeks in his life when he met the love of his life forty years earlier at a bistro in Lyon.
The whole setup in this movie is nothing short from genius. I couldn’t help but laugh loudly all the way through this brilliant and original film. I strongly recommend you watch ‘La Belle Époque’,
