Billy Summers is an extremely intelligent hitman with a penchant for literature. He is empathetic, but not towards evil people. He kills them. And he has killed many over the years in his work as a paid killer. It all began in Billy’s childhood when he killed his stepfather to protect his mother. Later he became a sharpshooter in Iraq, where he showed that he had an unusual talent for killing.
Returning home, he begins to make a living by killing bad people for money, and he has been doing so for many years. Now planning his retirement, he has accepted one last extremely well-paid job. And if Billy does what his employers want him to this last killing will pay him enough money to live a life of luxury for the rest of his days.
But things turn out quite differently than what Billy has planned, and now his thoroughness, intelligence and ability to disappear are going to be truly tested. And this is as far as I will go. I won’t reveal more…
This is simply Stephen King’s best book in a long time. Read it by all means…….
Billy Summers is a book by Stephen King when he is at his very best. The book is both a crime novel, war memoirs and a love story which is excellently told by the author. Not only is the reader involved in different environments ranging from trailer park trash, the American military and over to the vulgar rich. King also manages to keep the reader in a suspense that is sometimes so unbearable that you cannot decide whether to put the book down or you have the nerve to continue.
