Kris Barras in action

The Kris Barras Band is one of Britain’s premier up and coming bands that belongs to the so-called New Wave of Classic Rock (NWOCR). The band was formed in 2014 and comes from Torquay in the south of England where Kris Barras grew up. Through his childhood he listened to his dad’s record collection which among many other records consisted of Gary Moore, BB King, Deep Purple and The Rolling Stones. His musical upbringing had a major influence on Kris Barras when he formed his group and true to his musical heritage The Kris Barras Band plays an exciting mixture of blues, southern rock and classic rock.

Since the group released their album The Divine and Dirty in 2018, they have played to sold out venues across Britain and Europe. The group has at the same time been supporting act to Bon Jovi and Beth Hart to name but a few. In 2019 the group won the prestigious Planet Rock Radio Best New Band Award. As a token that Kris Barras is an accomplished musician, he has also toured the world with the group Supersonic Blues Machine fronting the group alongside famous guest musicians such as Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Steve Lukather (Toto) and Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers Band).

The Kris Barras Band has so far released three albums Lucky 13 (2016), The Divine and Dirty (2018) and Light it Up (2019). Should I describe the group’s musical style I would have to use words like melodic, guitar oriented and energetic rock music with some blues licks thrown in here and there for good use. I have become incredibly fond of the group, and they give me hope that a bright future for classic rock lies ahead of us.

I have put in four videos to give you some examples of the prowess of the group.
